Wefty Needle
The WEFTY is specifically designed for use with fabric strips, either fabric cut width or on the bias, single or double fold. Preparing Strips Cut your strips twice the width you want your finished strip to be. Example: If you want to weave with 1/2 inch strips, cut your fabric into 1 inch strips. Lay the fabric strips wrong side up, fold the raw edges to the middle and press. Spray starch and bias tape makers are very helpful for this task. Using WEFTY Hold the WEFTY so that the wording is facing up and the tapered end is facing down. Thread the fabric strip into the eye of the WEFTY and carefully fold it under itself. This keeps the fabric strip flat as you weave. The tapered end will help you weave the WEFTY into pinned strips, however you can use another WEFTY or other tool to hold the strips you are weaving under. The grooves on the top of the WEFTY allow you to choose how to move it through your project: you can grab the WEFTY by the sides, or push it from the top with just your finger. When knitting the third layer of a triaxial fabric, thread the WEFTY while holding it so that the numbers and tapered end are facing up. This helps the WEFTY move through the multiple layers of fabric without bending too much.
